The Tribeca has a DVD player for the rear seats, I have no children and my friends rarely ever use it.

The buttons on the lower left side of my steering wheel are for voice command. I think I've used it once. I said "Driver's side to 75" and it tuned my radio to 97.5

My BRZ has sat nav. So does my phone, and every other phone on the market.

I personally hate my sunroof, and my leather seats.

My 135is has this stupid frost warning if it detects the ambient temperature is at 37 F or lower. It just dings at you a bunch and flashes this icon, then goes away. It's totally redundant, because once the snowflake icon goes away, that's where the ambient temp is anyway.
Usually it comes on if I start up the car and it's 37 or lower, but if I've parked inside and then drive outside, it'll ding once the thermometer drops to 37. So I'll be down the block from my house and it starts dinging like crazy and I'm all like "WTF IS WRONG WITH THE CAR???" but then I realize it's just the stupid frost warning.
The last time I had it in for service I asked the dealer if they could disable it, but no.

A back seat. I almost never have more than two people in the car.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 13:03 |

What is this blasphemy? I won't buy a car without a sunroof unless that car is a convertible or targa.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 13:04 |

Yeah those manual transmissions really are useless.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 13:05 |

What's wrong with your sunroof? I think they're awesome :)
![]() 03/30/2015 at 13:06 |

the pass-thru back seat opening. Why not just make it fold?

Ash tray and lighter. No one should ever take up smoking, and those who do already should never do it in the car.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 13:08 |

I used to have a similar attitude, then I realized I go lots of places with no cell service, which isn't an issue for a standard satnav because all the maps are pre-loaded.

Sunroofs! My last 3 cars had a sunroof and I haven't opened it once. I have A/C so why would I need a sunroof ? Too make me more hot and burn the top of my head? Completely useless!
![]() 03/30/2015 at 13:09 |

I have much hate for sunroofs; Leaky, Heavy, breaks up the integrity of the roof, more parts to break, etc.

Uh, trailer hitch maybe? Because whoever installed it, failed to wire it for lights.

My 850 has a sport/economy mode switch. It's more or less useless no matter who you are.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 13:12 |

I'm sure you can think of a good use for the back seat! Especially at your age you need all the options you can get.

My car has rear defrost. It's broken. That means it's useless to me right?
![]() 03/30/2015 at 13:17 |

Most of them do both. It's great if you have long luggage and you have 4 people in the car though.

*thinks about features in car*
1) windows. Useful!!
2) ...uhhhh radio Useful!
3) Heat. Useful!
just checked all features useful.

Had a cigarette lighter in the family's old Volvo 940. Out of curiosity, I decided to see how it worked and pushed it in. Ended up blowing the fuse for both the cigarette lighter and the radio.

Does it suck as much as the nav on my ST sucked? Google / Waze have live traffic and don't lead me the wrong way down one way streets.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 13:26 |

I don't have a picture, but cruise control. No clue how to use it...
![]() 03/30/2015 at 13:27 |

I always thought I would hate NAV...
now, I have it... the map with exit numbers and street names and such, is kind of handy, actually...
but I still don't use the driving direction and route planning features, let alone the voice-control features.
I just use it as a reference map. I probably wouldn't pay thousands to add it as an option to a new car, if it wasn't standard, and I had to have the car otherwise.

In my youth, the cigarette lighter in the family Caravan came in very handy for lighting fireworks.

My van has four ashtrays. Never put an ash in them.
To keep them from being completely useless.... I put 12v in one of them.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 13:32 |

It's useful for a bike rack!
![]() 03/30/2015 at 13:34 |

The CD changer. I realize that was still a thing back in 08, but now it's useless (doubly so since the car comes with an aux jack).
It gives a ding when the ambient temperature drops below 37°, and, starting at 2 hours, it dings every hour on the hour that you drive without stopping for a break (this will be particularly fun when I drive it across the country in a couple weeks). Fortunately it only gives a single ding for those things.
The passenger seat belt sensor, while not useless, is too touchy. I tend to put my work bag on the seat, then if at some point I have to brake a bit harder than is standard it trips the sensor and the car starts dinging like mad at me until I remove the bag from the seat.

No.

Nahh, its the other way around. The AC is the useless feature and the sunroof is superior! Haha try telling that to yourself when it is 105 degrees and 95% humidity outside th0ugh.

I have a roof rack and it's an SUV, so I could just put it inside.

I actually used my BRZ's sat nav on my drive from Portland to Palm Desert. It helped keep track of the miles I had left on the 15 hour drive.

Never got to the point where I was able to use it. It's cumbersome, poorly laid out, and has tiny little buttons. I'm just sticking to Waze.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 13:51 |

My Cruze has a message on the dash that pops up that's basically that symbol with "ice possible, drive with care" underneath.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 13:52 |

Never had that problem, but I've never driven out west other than in cities either, so I can see how this could be a problem.

that reminds me, I have a "DVD music player" in my trunk that I have not used.
Haven't used the in-dash cd changer either, but I have used the cassette deck!

The rain-sensing wipers in my Grand Cherokee. I'm still very capable of turning my own wipers on and to the speed that I need them at.

It is, I'm writing this on my phone in a miata.
![]() 03/30/2015 at 14:04 |

Let me guess, you've used the cassette deck for one of these?
![]() 03/30/2015 at 14:09 |

That's a clever improvement and actually useful in a van. My Peugeot 205 GTI has 3 ashtrays, two of which in the back. Because French subcompact car from the 1980s. I doubt any one of them has ever been used for ash.

Nope, Guns n roses!
My car has an AM/FM/XM/CD/DVD/AUX/Cassette stereo. A USB port was too much to ask for, apparently

Rally towns. Not may people around so cell service is shit. The largest town hosting a Rally America national event is 9,750 people, and 7 of the 12 towns visited are under 5,000 people (5 under 2,000, 3 under 1,000). There's also the drive to/from the events. Sucks to have your phone working as the dedicated sat nav for 6-12 hours because then you can't use it for other things when it's the other person's turn to drive.

My car has:
A GPS (doesn't work)
A phone (doesn't work)
A ski condom (only good for my friends hockey stick, I don't ski)
Speed sensitive volume control (which is just annoying)
Heated cup holders (not a coffee drinker)
Coathangers (which were useless from the word go)

That should definitely be one of the circles in automotive hell. AC in my Civic only worked while moving on the highway and rarely in traffic, made it pretty darn pointless lol.

my na's stock ashtray... So I repurposed it into a lid as you see above. Aside from that all features are useful (though there are not many of them!) except for a/c which I don't have working anyway.

Thinks about super stripped base model car, realizes he don't use the A/C (because it's useless)

HEADLIGHT WASHERS SPRAY NOZZLES
I have no idea of the combination of action necessary to energize them. I do my best not to drive the car unless its a really nice day and keep it spotless always. To think anyone would drive this car through the mud or muck necessitating such an option is absurd.

Features my Niva has:
Wheels. Nope, need them.
Engine. Kinda need that too.
Transmission. Also useful.
Brakes. Very useful.
Headlights. No, those are useful. The side marker lights, not so much.
Heater. It's still below freezing when I wake up, so that stays.
Windows. Very useful. Because seeing and shit. Even the sunroof. The heater doesn't have an "off" position, so all ventilation is useful.
Steering wheel. Need that.
Seats. I rarely have passengers, and have been debating ditching the tiny rear seat for more cargo space.
Doors. Need those too. Something something not quite spring yet.
Uuuuummm... I think I ran out of features.
Oh! The roof rack that is only secured to the roof panel with self-tapping sheet metal screws! That's useless!!!
ASH TRAYS!!! I NEVER USE THOSE!!!
Uuuuhhhh... no, no, I think that's it, this time. I've listed all the features. Except seatbelts, but those are useful and I'll pretend I didn't forget them. So to recap, useless features:
Side marker lights.
Back seat.
Roof rack.
Ash trays.
Look! Look at all the features my car has that I don't use!!! FOUR OF THEM!!!!! Eight if you count all the side marker lights and the three ash trays!!! EIGHT!!!
Look upon me and marvel at my decadence!!!!
